The intelligent and most advanced solution of controlling fully and semi-automatically small and medium sized timber dry kilns, no matter if con-ventional or dehumidification dryers are concerned. The outstanding features of this new dry kiln controller are its versatility, the unsurpassed procedure of controlling kiln drying timber as dictated by the drying behaviour of the wood, its compact design and the very simple operation, and . . . . . its reasonable price.
• Control method:
Proportional or ON-OFF control adjustable for heat valve and damper actuator. Control of humidification adjustable for steam or water spraying.
•Standard features: * Illuminated 4-line LCD matrix readout, * 16-key membrane keypad, *Control cabinet with lockable glazed front door, *Separate amplifier box for easy installation of the controller away from the dry kiln,* 4 wood moisture measuring points and one each EMC and temperature measuring point, *Manual control of all final control elements feasible via keypad inputs.
•Optional features:

Package of additional four wood moisture measuring points, Supplementary equipment for reversing type dry kilns, with possibility to initiate fan reversal in adjustable intervals (input via keypad), Interface for connection of a dot matrix printer, Interface for centralization together with other GANN computer controllers, Variable fan speed control (if kiln is equipped with a frequency converter), Also available in rack-type design for installation in a 19-inch control cabinet or panel.
Control cabinet:
Size: Height 215mm, Width 600mm, Depth 415 mm Weight: 25 kg
Amplifier box: Size: Length 300mm, Width 200mm, Height 85 mm Weight: 3,5 kg

The new microprocessor-operated control system for timber dryers GANN HYDROMAT TK-MP 501 opens a great number of opportunities for optimizing kiln drying timber as it has not been offered so far in this great variety by other control systems. It sets new standards for fully automatic control of kiln drying timber.
•The display and operating devices are combined in a modern touch-screen LCD that allows inputs or selections by simply touching the respective panels. Drying schedules for over 250 species of wood have been stored in the software. The operator can modify these schedules within definite safety limits with regard to the particular efficiency of his dryer
• The existing program editor allows adding intermediate drying steps in standard drying schedules or deleting any drying step. With species difficult to dry that tend to warping or cracking, intermediate conditioning phases can be interpolated in order to release stresses that occurred in the wood. This will improve the drying quality.
• Modified standard drying schedules can be stored in a program catalogue for convenient re-use with future drying cycles. The measured MC, EMC and temperature values are digitally transmitted from the signal amplifier, being equipped with a microprocessor of its own, to the control unit. Individual wood moisture curves of 250 species of wood are stored in the measuring pick-up, ensuring highest accuracy of the readings. In addition proper function of the measuring points is continually monitored by the control system.
• The wood moisture content of the kiln load can be measured at up to 16 measuring points. Eight each of them can be provided for measurement of core and of shell moisture content permitting automatic adjustment of the drying control at to great a difference between core and shell m.c. This will avoid case hardening as a result of too fast drying of the shell layer. Wireless measuring points are optionally available.
• Besides wood moisture based drying schedules, the user can also enter existing time-based drying schedules. The drying cycle can also be governed by a fictitious measuring point in place of real wood moisture measuring points. An optionally available device permits also variable control of the fan speed as dictated by the species and thickness of the wood and, as a novelty, also by the thickness of the stickers used.
• Hardware:
Modular design with add-on I/O modules for future applications. Modules are connected via digital CAN bus with the control unit. Additional switching functions can be freely programmed by the user according to his requirements Up to 16 wood moisture measuring points can be provided, optionally also as wireless measuring points. Graphical operating surface for easy programming. Interface for ink jet colour printer for printing out drying protocols.
